VINAHF Charitable Construction Program

There is a Vietnamese saying: “An Cư Lạc Nghiệp” (for a stable life, first is the home, then a career/job), unfortunately so many poor families do not have a safe place to live, they currently live in the miserable conditions due to their deteriorate and unsafe shelters, and a decent, safe home is the family’s long-awaited dream – They can’t “Lạc Nghiệp” until they are “An Cư. Therefore, to build decent homes for the poor is a part of our VINAHF mission to help the poor as the first step to An Cư” (first the home) then depends on family’s conditions, VINAHF combines, co-ordinatewith other VINAHF existing projects (such as VINAHF Micro-finance) to help them Lạc Nghiệp” (have a job, work for income) to enable them escape their poverty loops.

About VINAHF Project to Build Home for The Poor

VINAHF started building homes for the poor since 2008. As of  the end of 2025 VINAHF has built  145 new homes for the poor across the country. The organization has also fixed, enhanced, and reinforced many homes. Twelve new homes, 2 roads, 2 bridges were built in the VINAHF 2025 building plan.

Other Charitable Construction

Besides building homes, VINAHF has constructed other charitable facilities to support the unattended elders, the orphans, and the invalids in Quảng Nam, Quảng Ngãi, and Trà Vinh. They built seven “Happiness” roads and  two bridges in the remote Northwest of Vietnam as well as several “Happiness”  bridges in the far South of Vietnam.

VINAHF Principles to Build Homes for The Poor

VINAHF Principles to Build Homes & Roads and Bridges  for The Poor:

The VINAHF  Constructions Projects for The Poor is based on the same VINAHF principles.

  • Equal Assistance: To help the poor equally, families selected for a new home are based on fair qualifications. There is no discrimination against applicants because of a person’s race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation, and pregnancy), origin, age, disability, or genetic information.
For road, bridge construction, we strictly follow the non-government policy,  we only build the infrastructure in the poverty-stricken areas where the government for some reasons won’t fund these projects and we count on the fully support if the people in the regions to enable the projects to ensure  these constructions are built by them, for them under our sponsorship and management to really brings the significant impacts  and make difference to the underprivileged villagers.
  • Unconditional Support: For qualified families, there is no condition whatsoever for them to receive new homes. Any conditions associated with receiving a new home are strictly prohibited, such as asking the family to return a favor, join any organization or group, or participate in any activities (government, politics, religions). This adheres to VINAHF’s policy on unconditional support for the poor and the underprivileged.
  • Recipient Satisfaction: VINAHF advises the families on the best possible options. However, because the homes are built for them to live in, their preferences and decisions can overwrite VINAHF’s suggestions. The family’s satisfaction and happiness are the utmost important factors.
  • Volunteers’ Role: VINAHF volunteers who recommend families to receive new homes are responsible for working with the family and the contractors/builders. They manage the project until the home is successfully delivered to the family’s satisfaction. VINAHF local volunteers are the representatives of VINAHF to work with the family, coordinate resources, and manage the project to ensure the home is successfully delivered. The goal is that the family will be happy with their preferences for the new home as if they had built it with their own resources.
  • No Mark Policy: Consistent with the principle of “no giver, no receiver, no given object” of any VINAHF’s project to help the poor, VINAHF leaves no trait or mark of its construction whatsoever at the sites after delivery. After VINAHF silently and successfully delivers the new home to the family, they will not leave any mark to show this was built by VINAHF, except for pictures of volunteers taken with the family. This applies to not only homes but any construction or facilities built by VINAHF. This policy has been honored by VINAHF volunteers for more than 100 constructions. VINAHF respectfully, efficiently, and silently serves the poor. That’s VINAHF’s policy.

Application and Transparency

  • How to Apply: Most candidate families work with VINAHF local volunteers. The volunteers support the families from the time they apply until the home is successfully delivered to them.
  • Application Forms: Applicants can fill out the application online or download the application form, fill it up, and send it by email or hand it to the local volunteers.

Success Stories

From the beginning, VINAHF with the strong support from Lua Viet Youth Association, VINAHF started  this program to mainly build homes for the poor. Over time, the program evolved, with more supports from other donors, VINAHF has extended the scope to also build facilities for charitable centers, and  in some very remote, isolated  areas where roads are very critical to improve their poverty VINAHF also built roads to significantly improve the villagers living conditions, and this program is also a way to help and enable the poor to fight against their poverty.

Road and Bridge Construction for Remote Areas in Vietnam

This project aims to build safe and durable roads for poor communities in the mountainous areas of Northwest Vietnam, such as Hà Giang and Lào Cai, as well as in the Mekong Delta provinces like Sóc Trăng and Trà Vinh. Better roads will help local people travel more easily, bring children to school safely, improve access to hospitals, and support economic development. Through this project, we hope to connect remote villages, reduce poverty, and create better opportunities for thousands of families.

The Vietnam Humanitarian Foundation (VINAHF) is actively involved in building “Happiness Roads” (Con đường Hạnh phúc) in the most remote, poverty-stricken areas of Northwestern Vietnam to improve living standards for ethnic minority communities. These initiatives focus on connecting isolated villages to the main infrastructure, overcoming extreme poverty, and enhancing access to education and essential resources.

Similar to the six “Happy” roads, as called by native highlanders, that the VINAHF has built, this seventh road in Sủng Phính B hamlet, Thắng Mố commune, Tuyên Quang province, will not only help the H’Mong villagers feel less isolated due to the difficulty and hardship of travel, but it will also open up opportunities for economic development and change the impoverished lives of the H’Mong people, just as the previous “Happy” roads have brought about change.

We would also like to share the images of the “Happiness Bridge” which has just been completed and inaugurated in Sóc Trăng. This is the second “Happiness Bridge” this year (2025) that the VINAHF Mekong Delta Volunteers have built for the poor communities in the Mekong Delta in 2025.
Especially, this bridge marks the beginning of the cooperation between the VINAHF and the Lotus School Foundation – The bridge was sponsored by the Lotus School Foundation and implemented by VINAHF Volunteers.

VINAHF built the facilities for centers caring for the underprivileged and unfortunate.

In addition to build homes for more than 100 individual families, the VINAHF has also built  facilities for the charitable centers such as the facility for blind children at Mái Ấm Hướng Dương in Tam Kỳ, Quảng Nam, the facility for the orphans, unattended elders at Phước Quang temple in Quảng Ngãi, the facility at A Lan Nha temple at Tra Vinh for the orphans and underprivileged children, etc.

VINAHF will continue to support the care givers’ and volunteers’ requests to build or enhance the  charitable facilities to make their caring jobs easier and to improve the living conditions of these unfortunate folks.
